Hi, I'm Julie - mam of two beautiful daughters, Lyse and Meg. I've been married to Ian for 27 years. I was born and bred in Gilfach Goch and started my working life at 16 as an apprentice hairdresser - going on to own my own hairdressing business for several years.

 

I re-trained as a Learning Support Assistant when the girls were young, and worked at Hendreforgan Primary School for 18 yrs. I left work in 2020 to help Lyse manage the behind the scenes at Pobi Bach, where I still help today.
 

We formed Urban Markets and Events in February 2022 - originally as a platform for Pobi to have a regular monthly market to trade at, this quickly grew and we now have 4 amazing venues and weekly markets, sometimes twice a week. 
 

What do you love about Urban? It has become a fantastic platform for traders to showcase their work and grow their small businesses from. 
 

Favourite venue? All of them, it’s impossible to choose. 
 

Most weekends I look forward to some specialist drinks from any of our traders plus some pastries, and a Pobi Bach bake. However I do now buy all family & friend's gifts for all occasions from most of our traders - there’s so much variety that there’s always something for someone
