Founded to help my own daughters small business Urbans has grown through its success and it proud to be helping small businesses find a regular platform to showcase their talented on a regular basis.
What do I need to become a trader?
At Urban Markets we run professional events and expect a certain standard from all traders, this not only maintains the reputation of Urban Markets but also ensures the safety of both visitors and traders. We work with big tourist companies in South Wales and with local councils, these partnerships have evolved and grown due to our reputation for have high quality traders. This is so important for us as a business therefore as a minimum we require all traders to have a Public Liability Insurance of at least £1m cover, most traders opt for £5m. We expect businesses meeting the turnover threshold to be fully registered and have paperwork to document this. All food businesses will need a food hygiene rating, those serving alcohol will need an alcohol license and TENS to serve at our events. Proof of all of these items will be required during registration.

The majority of our events are held outdoors, Urban events go ahead no matter the weather, the only time we will cancel an event is if it is unsafe due to a weather warning. We ask that all traders have the correct equipment to be able to trade safely:​​​​
Professional Gazebo
A standard pitch size is 3m x 3m. A professional gazebo is one with a sturdy metal frame with a cross brace structure and a central brace. As a business we recommend Gorilla Gazebos as they have sturdy frames and durable covers and sides.

If you need to hire a gazebo we have a stock that can be hired out for each event. Please ask when booking.
Gazebo Weights
As the British weather can throw anything at us at anytime of year we ask that all traders bring their own weights, the majority of events are on hard ground therefore we are unable to stake into the ground and weights are required. There are many different kinds of weights, we recommend a minimum of 10kg on each gazebo leg.

Sturdy Tables
Depending on your set up you may require between 1 and 4 tables. We recommend the hard plastic folding tables, they are available via amazon, B&Q and other online retailers. Wooden pasting tables may not be sturdy enough and we have had traders lose stock due to them buckling under the weight of their display.
Again if you need to hire a table we do have a small stock available to prebook. Please ask when booking.
